Area 51 completes the sweep, taking the series 3-0 over VooDoo Child. While the final result looks lopsided, the first 2 games were absolute dogfights that could have gone either way. VooDoo Child actually controlled the pace and possession for the majority of the first 2 matchups, but Area 51's ability to weather the storm and strike on the counter-attack proved to be the difference. By the time Game 3 rolled around, the momentum had shifted entirely, as Area 51 pulled away with a 5-2 win to shut the door on the series. Keenis VII was the engine for Area 51, putting up a massive 11 points across the 3 games. His performance was punctuated by a hat trick in the series-clinching Game 3, and his reliability in the circle (34 faceoff wins) ensured his team had the puck when it mattered most. He was perfectly complemented by Hoots l16l, who played a punishing style of hockey, leading all players with 38 hits while still finding the back of the net 5 times. On the other side, J Whipzz and Dupont l9l were the bright spots for VooDoo Child, combining for 10 points, but they ultimately lacked the secondary scoring depth to match Area 51’s top-six production. The defining story of this series was efficiency versus possession. VooDoo Child actually finished the series with a significant advantage in total time on attack (1677 seconds to 1335), but they were plagued by catastrophic turnovers. jnoquarterj alone accounted for 37 giveaways over the 3 games, which repeatedly neutralized VooDoo's zone time and fueled the Area 51 transition game. Area 51 was much more clinical with their opportunities, outshooting VooDoo 53-41 overall and utilizing a lethal power play in the final game to pull away. Between the pipes, tugeye92 was the more consistent factor, posting a .829 save percentage and making 34 saves to frustrate the VooDoo Child shooters at every turn.
