The Flamingos walked away with a 5-3 victory in a contest where clinical finishing trumped shot volume. Despite Not My Game controlling long stretches of play and outshooting their opponents 14-11, the Flamingos were devastatingly efficient with the few chances they earned. The game remained a back-and-forth affair until BIGTJ1299 buried the game-winner, providing the cushion the Flamingos needed to withstand a late push from a persistent Not My Game offense.
The Flamingos' attack was spearheaded by hockeymike2344 and Thatbaillieguy, who both turned in massive 3-point performances with 2 goals and 1 assist each. hockeymike2344 was particularly lethal, accounting for the team’s only power play goal of the night. On the other side, Sash (2 goals) and Philliesgreat08 (1 goal, 2 assists) did the heavy lifting for Not My Game, but they struggled to solve LYCAN at pivotal moments. LYCAN proved to be the difference-maker between the pipes, turning aside 11 of 14 shots for a .786 save percentage, while his counterpart SpitCan6064 struggled to find a rhythm, finishing with a .545 save percentage.
The deciding factor in this one was pure shooting efficiency. The Flamingos scored 5 goals on just 11 shots— a staggering 45% conversion rate that made every defensive lapse by Not My Game look like a catastrophe. While time on attack was nearly identical (9:26 for Flamingos vs. 8:52 for Not My Game), the Flamingos were much more disciplined with the puck, winning the special teams battle by going 1-for-1 on the power play.
